Dear Mr. Davis:
\J This is to confirm my telephone call soliciting your help in finding a
speaker on long term planning for the automobile industry for the
\F1The Future of Cars--Energy, Environment and Economics\F0
segment of the annual meeting of the
AAAS to be held January 27-31, 1975 in New York.
The symposium is scheduled for January 27-28, 1975 in the Regency Ballroom
of the Americana Hotel.
There will be a morning and an afternoon session on each day; each session
consisting of four speakers, a panel discussion and questions from the floor.
The proposed timing is one half hour for each speaker and one hour for
panel discussion and open questioning. The session on the long term future
will be Tuesday afternoon, January 28th.
I would like to stress that this is a scientific symposium
and, therefore, we need someone who will be able to
express the thinking of the industry in relation to the long term future
of the automobile and not someone stating a public relations position.
Therefore, I cannot commit myself to invite whomever
you may propose; I need to talk to him first.
I enclose a copy of the draft announcement of the symposium
and shall send along further information as it becomes available.
Thanks again for your help.\.
Sincerely yours,
John McCarthy
